Comfort  by Nancy Schatz Alton

The work of

my life is

It’s a self-centered ache

that I offer you

on a platter:

This work the world

likes to pretend is beside the point

it’s the

round point

of my pencil

telling you

listen, love:

I love you

as you are

your cranky self.

Here’s a blanket & my dog.

Can you hear the rain?

It falls for you, my love:

I love you.

  1. There is a nice quote that I’m going to completely mess up – it’s from the new Amazon series “The Tick”. I’m going to put it into quotes, even though I am most likely getting it wrong. “Essentially life boils down to choosing fear or choosing love. Everything else stems from that decision.”
