December 11 – 11 Things What are 11 things your life doesn’t need in 2011? How will you go about eliminating them? How will getting rid of these 11 things change your life? (Author: Sam Davidson)
This doesn’t really speak to me, so I am going to write as I think. Too much thinking will get me nowhere. Things, as in stuff, or things as in preconceived ideas? Things seem too simple, so I will go with preconceived ideas. I am going to give up 11 different preconceived notions that stop me from thinking clearly about situations:
1. Thinking other people are thinking a certain way about me. Instead of wasting my time imagining what is going on in other people’s heads, I will focus on acting from the best possible place inside of me.
2. Judging people based on past interactions. Every moment is new. What does this moment and this person call for?
3. That scores and tests define my children. Instead I will try to focus on the actual child. This works best if the child is in front of me. So I will try not to worry when I am not with said child. I can see each joyful daughter more fully when I am with them.
4. This list. I am giving up on this list and stopping at number 4. The 3 changes I have already listed are a lot to work on. Enough.
