Word Play

It’s been an extra creative week for me as I taught my first Structuring Creativity class. Having one more container for creative play: nice. I think it gave me good energy for my Friday classes. I teach writing to small groups of kids most Fridays. Yesterday, one of my students wrote a poem that really shows how much fun it is to play with language. And he’s given me permission to share it! It feels like I’m giving you a gift. Azure has a knack for rhythm and word choice and he’s so very good at sandwiching words together just so. Here you go:

Splashy were the fiddlesticks
that skipped and slurped
in the lone puddle
among the dry desert.
The jealous lioness
was determined
to be bilingual
as well.
